Led by a Lancaster-based creative mind, Bastien Marshal - an artist, graphic designer, DJ and an actor, Detachments are a representation of an interesting Post-post-electroclash.
Their early roots date back from Factory Records, where they explored the basics of Coldwave and Minimal Wave music shades, where they were, in the process of experimenting, noticed by a known UK label, Thisisnotanexit Records, who are responsible of what Detachments are today.
It is not hard to love these boys.
Their debut album "Detachments" was released in 2010 in cooperation with the vintage-synth geek James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco). The band managed to nourish only the best from Synth Pop, and combine it with Post-Punk to create 11 unique songs. Detachments protruded into the existential tones of today with this album, managing to wrap the displeasure of the modern obsessive need for popularity and recognition in a black humour veil.
Preparing a new album, they have let the world know that their publisher will be none other than Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order), from Hacienda Records.
Europe has seen their unique fingerprints, from Paris to Istanbul. This year, Detachments will present their work to Exit Festival’s audience, at Elektrana stage on Sunday, July 15.
