It is also adorned by<strong> Hotel Vojvodina<\/strong>, the oldest hotel in Novi Sad (1854), and <strong>the Bank of Vojvodina building<\/strong> (1892). The building of <strong>the Roman Catholic Parish Office<\/strong> (1808), <strong>the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Assumption<\/strong> (1776), and t<strong>he Synagogue<\/strong> (1909) are also in the vicinity.<\/p>\n<p>The square itself boasts a monument to <strong>Svetozar Mileti\u0107<\/strong>, the most important political figure and leader of the Serbs in Vojvodina in the 19th century. It is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure and becomes one of the city&#8217;s liveliest areas every summer, hosting sports competitions, concerts, festivals, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ribarsko ostrvo<\/strong> and <strong>Kamenjar<\/strong>, located on the city&#8217;s outskirts, are home to numerous taverns, restaurants, resorts and piers, where you can book a ride on the Danube and visit places like Kamenjar, Ma\u010dkov Sprud, Rakova\u010dki Dunavac, Love Island, etc.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221; bb_tab_container=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1617897650157{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>City Surroundings<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1617971356439{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]The broader area of the City of Novi Sad leans, in part, on the Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park, with its <strong>picnic areas, intact ecosystems, and many Serbian Orthodox monasteries<\/strong>. Farms, rural areas, and wine regions can also be found in the vicinity of the city. Visitors can travel along four excursion routes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>towards \u010cenej<\/strong> \u2014 an old village in Ba\u010dka, known today as<strong> a farmers&#8217; settlement<\/strong>, preserving the spirit of the past. Here you will find <strong>the best local food<\/strong> and horses running across the plains;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>towards Fru\u0161ka Gora<\/strong> \u2014 the national park spanning about 25,000 hectares which include <strong>Sremski Karlovci, Vrdnik, numerous monasteries, vineyards, and untouched nature<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong> towards Futog<\/strong> \u2014 well known for <strong>its cabbage production<\/strong>, with written records dating back to the 16th century. Futog cabbage is protected by its geographical origin as a product of national significance;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>towards Kovilj<\/strong> and its surroundings \u2014 this<strong> unique nature reserve<\/strong> spans 4,840 hectares and is home to many rare bird species.<\/p>\n<p>Besides being famous for its multiculturalism, love and tolerance, Novi Sad has <strong>many places for having a good time<\/strong>. Here you can find it all: from <strong>restaurants<\/strong> with local Vojvodina cuisine, <strong>cafes<\/strong>, <strong>quay<\/strong> overlooking the famous Petrovaradin Fortress, to youth and <strong>cultural centers<\/strong> which gather a more alternative crew and the ultimate nightlife <strong>street of Laze Tele\u010dkog<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;124085&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1617970342812{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]The most prominent get-together spots for locals are the Liberty Square, the cathedral and Zmaj Jovina Street.
