Old Town Center<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970643592{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]The old town center of Novi Sad comprises the urban space around Liberty Square, Zmaj Jovina <\/strong>and Dunavska streets<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124043″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970735213{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]Liberty Square is dominated by the Town Hall<\/strong> built in 1894 and the Roman Catholic Church of the Name of Mary<\/strong> built between 1893 and 1895. It is also adorned by Hotel Vojvodina<\/strong>, the oldest hotel in Novi Sad (1854), and the Bank of Vojvodina building<\/strong> (1892). The building of the Roman Catholic Parish Office<\/strong> (1808), the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Assumption<\/strong> (1776), and the Synagogue<\/strong> (1909) are also in the vicinity.<\/p>\n

The square itself boasts a monument to Svetozar Mileti\u0107<\/strong>, the most important political figure and leader of the Serbs in Vojvodina in the 19th century. The statue was built by the famous sculptor Ivan Me\u0161trovi\u0107.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124050″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970763099{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]One of the oldest streets in Novi Sad \u2014 Zmaj Jovina Street<\/strong> is in the immediate vicinity, as well as Dunavska Street<\/strong>. They make up a pedestrian zone interspersed with passages featuring many shops, restaurants, pastry shops, and craft shops.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124057″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970830751{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]The Bishop’s Palace of the Eparchy of Ba\u010dka<\/strong>, built in 1901, is one of the most significant buildings in this zone. In front of it, there is a monument to the doctor and poet Jovan Jovanovi\u0107 Zmaj<\/strong>. The City Library, the Museum of Vojvodina<\/strong>, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina<\/strong> are located in Dunavska Street<\/strong>, while the Danube Park<\/strong>, a natural monument and protected natural asset established in the 19th century, is adjacent to the street.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124064″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”30px” bb_tab_container=””][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617897582174{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]<\/p>\n

River Danube<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970893444{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]After visiting the Fortress and the town center, do not miss out on discovering the beauty of this river city. The Danube is “Novi Sad’s main street”<\/strong>\u00a0and the city leans on the river not only with its oldest streets and most notable buildings, but also new city districts, promenades, beaches, taverns, and vacation homes.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124071″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970946433{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]On the right side of the Danube is Sremska Kamenica<\/strong>, a part of Novi Sad that leans on the slopes of Fru\u0161ka Gora<\/strong>. In its center, you will find the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the house where Jovan Jovanovi\u0107 Zmaj lived \u2014 currently the site of the Zmaj Museum. The Kamenica Park<\/strong> and the Marcibanji \u2013 Kara\u010donji Castle<\/strong> (1836) located within are particularly attractive.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124078″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617971060690{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]There are many exciting sights on the left side of the Danube: the Belgrade quay<\/strong> and the numerous beaches along the coast, with \u0160trand<\/strong> being the most popular one. It is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure and becomes one of the city’s liveliest areas every summer, hosting sports competitions, concerts, festivals, etc.<\/p>\n

Ribarsko ostrvo<\/strong> and Kamenjar<\/strong>, located on the city’s outskirts, are home to numerous taverns, restaurants, resorts and piers, where you can book a ride on the Danube and visit places like Kamenjar, Ma\u010dkov Sprud, Rakova\u010dki Dunavac, Love Island, etc.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px” bb_tab_container=””][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617897650157{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]<\/p>\n

City Surroundings<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617971356439{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]The broader area of the City of Novi Sad leans, in part, on the Fru\u0161ka Gora National Park, with its picnic areas, intact ecosystems, and many Serbian Orthodox monasteries<\/strong>. Farms, rural areas, and wine regions can also be found in the vicinity of the city. Visitors can travel along four excursion routes:<\/p>\n

\u2022 towards \u010cenej<\/strong> \u2014 an old village in Ba\u010dka, known today as a farmers’ settlement<\/strong>, preserving the spirit of the past. Here you will find the best local food<\/strong> and horses running across the plains;<\/p>\n

\u2022 towards Fru\u0161ka Gora<\/strong> \u2014 the national park spanning about 25,000 hectares which include Sremski Karlovci, Vrdnik, numerous monasteries, vineyards, and untouched nature<\/strong>;<\/p>\n

\u2022 towards Futog<\/strong> \u2014 well known for its cabbage production<\/strong>, with written records dating back to the 16th century. Futog cabbage is protected by its geographical origin as a product of national significance;<\/p>\n

\u2022 towards Kovilj<\/strong> and its surroundings \u2014 this unique nature reserve<\/strong> spans 4,840 hectares and is home to many rare bird species.<\/p>\n

Besides being famous for its multiculturalism, love and tolerance, Novi Sad has many places for having a good time<\/strong>. Here you can find it all: from restaurants<\/strong> with local Vojvodina cuisine, cafes<\/strong>, quay<\/strong> overlooking the famous Petrovaradin Fortress, to youth and cultural centers<\/strong> which gather a more alternative crew and the ultimate nightlife street of Laze Tele\u010dkog<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”124085″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1617970342812{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]The most prominent get-together spots for locals are the Liberty Square, the cathedral and Zmaj Jovina Street. In close proximity you\u2019ll find the Dunavski Park, but there are also a lot more of green parks over the city such as Limanski, Futo\u0161ki and Kameni\u010dki.<\/p>\n

Mapped out this way, the city provides a place for everyone \u2013 the locals, as well as the tourists.<\/p>\n
