How a Roulette Table Moment Became a Track: Boris Brejcha Presents “16 Red Even” Ahead of EXIT Festival

Inspired by a real-life roulette table moment, the long-awaited track by Boris Brejcha, "16 Red Even," was recently released on his label Fckng Serious in two versions – the original and an extended cut.

The new release arrives just in time to raise the temperature ahead of Brejcha’s upcoming performance at EXIT Festival’s Dance Arena, scheduled for July 13.

On New Year’s Eve 2024, a friend of Brejcha’s put everything on black at the roulette table, only for the ball to land on red 16. That moment became the conceptual spark for a track that celebrates a missed opportunity as a musical triumph, captured in a carefully directed visual narrative where Boris Brejcha himself takes on the role of the croupier.

The music video dynamically mirrors the way Brejcha constructs and transforms elements of his high-tech minimal sound, using rhythmic shifts, layered effects, and atmospheric transitions as expressive tools. Musically, “16 Red Even” delivers a seductive groove and production clarity, while the story behind it remains a subtle emotional undercurrent throughout the composition.

Before its official release, “16 Red Even” matured on dance floors – Brejcha regularly included it in his sets over the past year, and audiences embraced it despite not knowing the backstory. In this new single, Brejcha masterfully builds atmosphere and conveys the emotion of an authentic moment, translating it into music.

On Saturday, July 13, Boris Brejcha returns in front of his fans at the EXIT Dance Arena, bringing his unmistakable musical style in a year when EXIT celebrates a major milestone – 25 years of existence.
