Rico Nasty Joins Wu-Tang Clan for the Big Celebration of 50 Years of Hip-Hop at Exit!

Punk rap prima donna Rico Nasty joins the greatest rap group of all time, Wu-Tang Clan, for a big celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop culture at this year's EXIT festival.

The Petrovaradin Fortress is ready to bounce from July 6th to July 9th with the EXIT Gang lineup, joined by 30 new artists such as Sajsi MC, Sunshine, Bigru & Paja Kratak, FTP, and Cunami Flo, as well as the previously announced acts like the old guard of hip hop including Ajs Nigrutin & Smoke Mardeljano, Prti Bee Gee, and Fox & Surreal, excellent regional support from Phat Phillie, Bolesna Braća, Z++, and 30 Zona, the powerful female voices of Mimi Mercedez, Tam, Macha Ravel and many others.

Fierce hip-hop and trap diva Rico Nasty arrives on Exit’s  Gorki List Main Stage, ready to take over the scene. Rico is the perfect combination of the absolute headliners of this year’s Exit program, The Prodigy and Wu-Tang Clan, conveying a nostalgic sound to new generations through her colourful mix of genres.  Combining punk and hip-hop, she delivers a brand new, exciting, hard-hitting story that promises to make her the next massive star in the music industry. She shocked the scene for the first time in 2018 with the single “Smack A Bitch,” which immediately went viral, and since that moment, she has actively dominated the alternative scene. Contrary to performers who found their voices in mainstream culture, Rico Nasty chose a different path, so her music is more susceptible to criticism. Her musical style and visual identity are reduced to the art of disinterest in negative comments and criticism, which is also the most honest approach to the genre she is dedicated to.

Her latest release, the album “Las Ruinas”, was inspired by surrealist Frida Kahlo and her eponymous work of art, depicting the difficulty of new beginnings and rebuilding oneself. Unlike anything one might expect from Rico, this opus delves deep into vulnerability, further proving her incredible diversity. Pitchfork called this album overwhelming in every sense, deeming her ability to mix countless sounds without dissolving into a mess impressive. Rico is simultaneously raw, furious, fierce, incredibly emotional, and fragile, so her music is the perfect manifestation of the pain of growing up and facing the world. Rico Nasty brings to EXIT bangers such as “Trust Issues,” “Relative,” “Gotsta Get Paid,” and many others that will completely rock the audience and contribute to the celebration of a genre and subculture that offers an incredible breadth and refuge for musical artists who have a lot to say and don’t care who’s listening.
