The famous world media service, CNN, published a story about EXIT, the Best European Festival, describing the Serbian music event as “a vibrant celebration of music tucked away in a corner of the old continent better known for historical turmoil than progressive techno beats — Serbia.”

CNN highlights the fact that many famous world stars value EXIT as a highly important destination in their tours that’s not to be missed. International stars like The Prodigy have raved about its wild side, and Duran Duran’s bassist John Taylor called playing at Exit a career high.

The spotlight was turned towards the fact that EXIT started off as a youth revolt of an entire generation, and grew into one of the most important events in the region. EXIT won the “Best Major European Festival” title this year, all the while being nominated again for the same award with heavy competition from the most important festivals in Europe. CNN also noted that EXIT was responsible for returning the cosmopolitan spirit to Serbia in 2000.

Dušan Kovačević, EXIT’s co-founder and general manager said in an interview with the media service, that the biggest success of the festival is the incredible atmosphere that’s present from the very first festival. Numerous stars felt this as well, which is why they spare no words of kindness when talking about the festival. “Everyone who came said they felt something different than concerts they usually play — they said this was their best concert this year, many of them said it was the best concert of their life,” said Kovačević.

The CNN article also states that, according to the Serbian government, Exit contributed more than $125 million to the country through tourism, and its PR value was estimated to be $87 million per year.

The article concludes with how Dušan Kovačević sees the future of the festival: “We want to evolve from a music festival to festival of creativity. Of course, music would be the main draw, but when people come to festivals they want to celebrate life.”
